If I upset the mods here please remove & accept apologies. Perhaps this should go on the for sale section but I am not sure of a value to place on this.

I have an 80 year old friend who is a pattern maker who still works his business on a part time basis. In his workshop we found a:-

Myford multi cutting stop ref 1483.

Totally unused, brand new in the original box.

These items cost quite a lot new & he would like to sell it, but not for pennies. He would also like to sell it to someone who would use it, ie a model engineer.

Does anyone know what they cost new?

Or would someone like to make me an offer so that I can go back to him & see if he wants to let it go

Just for general interest:

the multi-stop was originally intended for use with the capstan turret attachment which fixed to the cross-slide. See pic below. Not mentioned there, but each of the multi-stop's 6 positions was colour coded to match the similarly coded 6 positions of the turret, so a different depth could be set for each turret position.

In 1958, when we (or certainly me) were just young men the multi-stop cost £4.12s.6d (more than my weekly pay)and the turret was £13.5s.0d.(about a month's pay).

One of the dealers has a secondhand one for 245 Pounds. A whole 20 quid off new! I can't believe anyone pays the prices they ask. Surely they must allow themselves to be "negotiated" down by a whopping amount??

On the other hand, you can buy the kit to make the Hemmingway version for 40 Pounds and it is not a lot of machining to do to complete the job, so can't see any but the most rabid Myford afficionado paying hundreds for the real deal.
