wrt autofeed. Do you have the original ratchet mechanism with about a 1″ gear and a spring loaded pawl that you rotate to reverse direction? This may need a bit of improvement of the slope and depth of engagement to get it to work and really the spring is too strong. It could also do with a non-return pawl. If you look at the second picture I posted of the club one it has been modified with teeth on the larger diameter handwheel to get a finer feed and an extra flip over pawl on top.
