      Hello all

I need a bearing that will run at about 15000 RPM, for extended periods, be tricky to get at when running, and on a shaft of 6 mm diameter. I’m a bit stuck.

      Should I

      Give up ?
Make a phosphor bronze bushing ?
Buy a good quality micro ball race ?

      Thanks!

Forget the bronze bushing, I doubt it will stand 15,000 rpm. Search for high speed ball bearings and you may find they are only have 5 ball bearings in them. They only need a small amount of lube. oil not grease.

How about ceramic bearings ? A quick Google for a spec on a ZrO2 696 bearing from one manufacturer gave an operating temparature of up to 250 C and 12000 rpm when oil lubricated – other makes may give different specs. & alternative lubrication regimes may help increase the operating speed.
