Can you buy stamps that have metal grades on them, such as:

      7075

      EN1A

      6082

      etc

I know you can use single letters but I'd rather have made ones!

Thanks, I think I'll stick with the marker pen due to price though!

                Chris

Why not make a list of all the metals etc you use and then assign each one a single letter/number and stamp each piece with the corresponding character. This way you can identify what the material is by reference to a simple table, which if laminated will be fine in a workshop environment. I use laminated A4 sheets in my workshop for a range of information I want quick and easy access to.

                Hope this helps

That's a good idea, I was thinking of using different coloured stickers with tape over them to hold them on and a similar chart.

But I think the individual number system is a better idea!

                    Hi

The coloured stickers, if they can be made to stay on, would be make each type of metal more readily visible and easier to identify in a batch but may require multi colours if you have a wide selection of materials available; e .g. barbers pole for 6082 aluminium etc wink

                    Cheers

                    Martin

I could use a series of coloured tape bands like a resistor.

I just have a couple of Industrial Metal Paint pens and write on the material as it comes into stock. This is exactly what these pens are for: https://www.cromwell.co.uk/EDD7340110K
