I have a new WM14 mill which is working well and I am happy with it. There is an oil-level glass on the side near the top with a little graphic of an oil can. There is no mention of this in the (very limited) manual. Is there something I ought to be topping up? No obvious places that I can see.

      Regards, Kevin

If you mean the thing near the High/Low gear selector, on the WM18 it's a plastic plug sealed by an O-ring that lets you grease the gears inside. Not an oil-level glass. Pull the plug out and shine a torch and you should be able to see the 2-speed gears. Doesn't seem fussy – I give it a squirt of white lithium grease from an aerosol every so often.

            Hi Kevin,

This is a good question, I tried to work out where to oil the gear cluster but didn't find any oiling point. I removed the sight glass and squirted some oil over the gears but as the head casting has no base the oil just ran out all over the place, all i do now is to use some grease applied through the sight glass hole to the gears and so far no problems
