Me too, but I resisted. But 5 people were and won by a "professional" using bidding software.

I was tempted too and I,m sure it wasn't won by a professional using bidding software

It's called a sniping tool, free / very cheap and easy to use, available to anyone.

Just bids in the last few seconds so it basically has the last bid

you win if your last bid is the highest.

What makes you think that the auction in question was won like that

Probably some sad old bloke sat in front of the telly on sat night won it…now he’s wondering what on earth he’s going to do with all those feeler fingers

I am that sad bloke. I always bid manually, and always only in the last five seconds of an auction. I've got it off to a fine art wink

But, I didn't bid on this one wink

I use the last 5 second method on most things I really want, I decide how much I want to bid and if I win great, if I lose it then it was too expensive, never get into a bidding war early on.

I generally wait till 3 seconds very rarely lose because of hardware/connection problems

If I'm otherwise occupied, I use a sniping tool. Normally, like you, I just do it manually from a real PC.

I've rarely missed through connection errors, but have missed several times as I've not heard the alarm on my phone as I've left it on silent.

                                        40 Kilo!

Glad I didn't bid on them! Mrs Jimmyb is fond of reminding me of the time I bought a joblot of air filters for weird cars. I got about 150 for £5. Took years to get rid of them…..
