Lidl plasma cutter

Lidl have a plasma cutter in at least some stores at £140.

It has a built in compressor or can be used with an external one.

Bought one but not tried it yet.

It seems to have gone up in price since the last batch, but I don’t think the last one had a built-in compressor. There was some controversy, IIRC, about its suitability for use on a domestic supply (it was supplied without a 13amp plug fitted to circumvent regulations) but I have used a similarly supplied stick welder on the workshop ring without issue. Whether this has caused issues for the neighbours or the electricity supplier I don’t know because nobody has said anything (yet!).

It has a blue 16A plug fitted. There are some contradictory statements in the manual though. One is ‘ This plasma cutter with compressor is not suitable for commercial use. Commercial use will invalidate the warranty’ . The other is ‘According to the standard IEC 60974-10, this is a plasma cutter in electromagnetic compatibility Class A. Class A devices are intended for use in an industrial environment.’

First meaning it won’t stand up to constant use.

Second meaning as it stands it’s electrically an noisy pig where it won’t have industrial noise suppression.
