Not sure if he is completely mad or a generous.

          …or a genius?

Neither, probably, but he does look like a rather single-minded exploiter of the age-old relationship between publicity and sponsorship money.

I remember the original build, can’t believe it was five years ago, the wall of death was one of his early projects and the longest moped.

Every time i watch that blokes vids I find myself wondering what the wife is like….is she a frazzled, embittered little woman who wonders what she has done in a previous life to be so blighted….or is she one of those "is,nt he absolutely wonderful" types………or is she a very business like woman always pushing him on to further madness in the interests of 'their' youtube channel…….is he like he is because of HER?

…………..Maybe it's a case of; "not tonight Colin, why don't you play with your spanner"

I think a lock on the trapdoor open position might be useful or it might not be up to you how long you spend in the man cave. Getting someone else to pay for the stuff you like doing has to be a good idea, if he can make a living from having a good time and putting it on YouTube Then happy days, better than being a wage slave and having to self fund your hobby, if it buys his wife a Prada handbag Now and again I bet she is right behind his projects.

I skip-viewed it, and didn't see her – does anybody actually live with him?

Well, to answer the question, the evidence suggests he's sensible. He seems happy, he's enjoying himself, playing with pretty amazing toys, and someone's paying for it. On the other hand, I know a lot of miserable gits who seem not to enjoy life, no longer understand the meaning of 'play' and are preoccupied wondering whether the money will run out before they die. And the others aren't much fun either. So I think it's the rest of us who are nuts…

Reminded me to finally subscribe to his channel. Along with the other 9 odd million.

And its had nearly 9 million views in 3 days.

                          And 18,000 comments.

That is serious You Tube money and fame.

IMHO, the guy deserves every penny and every round of applause.

He's a grown up kid with a child's attitude to the world, very clever, and a lot of us would like to be him.

He certainly has some good engineering ability and the will to carry out projects most would discard, good luck to him IMO he earns everything he is provided with and long may it continue.

Colin lives just a couple hundred metres, or so, from me. He is actually a clever chap and makes (most) of his living from youtube. He was a plumber before youtube.

That project, I guessed at the time, cost at least best part of 70 grand and was, I believe all paid for by Sky TV. There was a an opportunity for access and removal of the limestone excavation to be dumped close by as the field behind Colin was being developed for residential homes (now almost complete?).

I refer to Colin as the ‘lunatic’ but only because of his stunts, not his mental state.🙂.

The only issue I might have with Colin is that his house is just opposite a fairly busy T junction and parked vehicles can be a nuisance because those that drive from the side road do not always stop and look!

Graham, next door, likely still has to put up with the vibrations from the drum practicing.🙁

The wobbly bike he made was interesting to ride but fairly easy to master- as long as it didn’t get out of control while going fast (fast being relative, here&#128578.

Our local MES keeps up to date with his antics because a couple of us assist him at times and he comes along to tell us about, and show us, his projects.

Re his wife – she is a delightfully normal person.🙂 I have supplied her with surplus garden veg, at times.

I’m reading one of Guy Martin’s books at the moment. Yet another Lincolnshire ‘lunatic’ – riding a motorcycle around the roads on the Isle of Man at ludicrous speeds along with many other stunts (like going round the Wall of Death at higher ‘g’ forces than most pilots would endure) but most of those riders risk their necks just for the thrill of doing it?

I expect both Colin and Guy are making a good living at what they are doing/have done. Good luck to them!

No harm done and his neighbours are well insulated from any nuisance he may cause.

Not according to Graham. Reasonably well insulated but not completely – direct from the ‘horse’s mouth’ so as to speak.🙂 But 5 years on and they are still neighbours, so can’t be unbearable. I think it was the drums that caused concern, not recent projects. I’ve known them for 40 years – and I like some of his paintings!

As has been said; theres a fine line between genius and madness. The fact is that the sane find madness very watchable!….but human diversity is what keeps us going!

Guy Martin is something inbetween…….a disaster waiting to happen on your screen! His excellent books give an insight into his psychosis,…like when he describes waking up in hospital and immediately notes that the medical staff were "busy but not panicky"…….

                                        I can understand the drums.

Our house is built on limestone bedrock. The whole area is limestone. Next to us they are building a new estate. The windows rattle when they are digging & scraping the stone out. That is a few hundred metres away.
