I’m not surprised, Myford users only like accessories matching their lathes colour. Hammerite green was not used by Myford.

If I had a Myford and wanted one of those steadies, and they were £25 less without any paint, I would buy that one and not bother to paint it.

          It’s better than £25 cheaper

This Myford owner doesn’t worry about the colour!

I bought my second-hand ML7 with hardly any extras, and added to it over the years since, so it has Myford Grey bits and Myford Green bits… and bits that were once one of them.

At least there is no hammer-finish paint on it!

Yes, it is. Some idiot previous owner ‘painted’ most of my milling machine mid green (except for the broken and clumsily repaired belt guard), and then some other idiot painted the tray with a disgusting blue-green hammer finish. I have removed some bits of the green with Scotchbrite pads. One day I may get round to resoring the original grey, but for the moment it is a tool that works.

The Myford ML10 came in a green hammered finish.  Although the advertiser claims that the steady will fit all Myford lathes this design will not fit on a solid dovetail bed.  A possible explanation as to why he is selling off the green ones.

The actual description, as opposed to the title of the listing, does say Myford Super-7 series machines.
Jans has been in the trade for a while now and she does seem to sell decent stuff, up to and including fully restored machines.

But she also often posts on the Myford Lathes group, showing progress on various jobs

Isn’t what you make on it the important thing?

I would have thought so … hence my opening question

Myford did indeed supply accessories in hammer green, I bought a fixed steady new in the 90’s and it was hammered green. My 90’s 254 has a vertical slide , steady and angle plates all supplied with the machine direct from the works, they too are hammered green. Not that it matters a jot, but I have known people that thought accessories were fake as they were finished in that colour. I once bought a Thiel mill that had been painted with green hammerite using a stick. Took hours to scrape it off! I know it could have been left and would have worked perfectly but I couldn’t bear it in the workshop!

BTW I made one of these steadies from the Hemingway kit much more useful than the standard one. At the green price a bit of a bargain.
