      Hello all,

      Back into Workshop at last.

Ref: Joe Piezynski youtube video showing internal threading away from Headstock.

Anyone know where to buy a similar tool please, as I need to thread a number of parts from an internal shoulder.

I could of course use the VFD Jog feature, but have never done internal threading like this before.

      Any advise appreciated.

      Regards,

      Geoff

These tools are available as insert holders and inserts but tend to be industrial prices that may exceed your budget.

A simpler home shop tool can be made similar to a boring bar with an inserted piece of HSS or carbide ground to suit. If the the cutter part is put in at an angle it can go close in to a shoulder. I think I have seen a YouTube video of someone making one.

          Search for SNL0013M16 online

Geoff, have a look at this photo of hand ground HSS tools, first & third from the LHS **LINK**.

Made to work with the lathe running in reverse and the carriage traveling Left to Right — away from the chuck thus cuts a RH thread from a shoulder or blind hole with an undercut.

Ebay themselves spell it eBay in some places, and ebay in others. No wonder the rest of us are confused.
