      Good evening all,

I would be grateful if anyone out there could point me in the direction of any Indexes relating to Model Engineering Magazines. I used to use Colin Usher's site, but when I changed over to Windows 7 I found it impossible to access the files as I think it was designed for XP. Also it now is somewhat short of recent years. Any suggestions would be most welcome, many thanks.

              Good evening Alan & Les,

Thanks for your replies, I followed the link and found Colin's site, unfortunately I can't find the Magazine search engine link it appears to be missing from the site unless I not looking in the right place, any help would be appreciated.

There was some while back a proposed set of indexes from a gentleman named Dacosta but can't remember what happened to that.

              John

I use the online indexes, the CAHW index (the one we use for the in-magazine index) and Dias Costa's utility for searching the Colin Usher data.

They all have their strengths, CAHW is best if you know the author or article title you are looking for or browsing subjects. Dias' utility is the best one if you have a general idea of what you are searching for as you can try various search terms.

CAHW can be ordered from here: **LINK**

                  Dias' utilities are here: **LINK**

                    Hello Neil,

Thanks for the info, I have down loaded it for all three magazines two of which open successfully and are very useful, the third however won't open, I get the following message; SQLite 3DS cross issue date SQLITE MISUSE unable to open database file.

Haven't a clue what it means or how to get over it, was hoping Dias Costa or any one else

John for that matter might see the query and point me in the right direction.

                        I get the same error.

Perhaps I'm only compatible with MTM publications?

                          Hello Neil, John. Good morning.

Would you please let me know which one of the three applications doesn't work?
Also, knowing the steps used to run the application would help me in fiding the problem.
Have you put all the downloaded files in a directory/foilder for itself?

I openned all of them and they worked as expetected.

                          Regards

Is there someonelse finding the same problems related above using the Index applications and willing to let me know which one of the three applications doesn't work?
Also, if possible, let me know the steps used to run the application to help me in fiding the origin of the problem.

                              Hello Dias,

Thank you for getting in touch, my apologies for the slow reply I have only now had a chance to do so.

                              The Index in question is E.I.M. I have downloaded all three sets of Files and placed them in a separate folder. M.E. and M.E.W. both open O.K. and work well, but when I try the E.I.M index I get the message;

Sqlite 3DS cross_issue_date : SQLITE_ MISUSE_unable to open database file.

Press o.k.to ignore & risk data corruption.

                              Press cancel to close.

                                Hello Dias,

I updated a couple of days ago, and only tried the EiM index when John reported the problem.

I get exactly the same error message and clicking OK just closes the window.

ME and MEW both work OK, so perhaps a data corruption issue?

I'm using W8 and I have all the files in the same folder.

                                Neil

I'll start working on the EiM_Index program as soon as I can and when I have it fixed I'll let you know in this thread.

                                            Hello John and Neil.

I have made small attempts to find the cause of the problem but have not had success so far.
There is, however, one thing that I remembered: during the construction of the program, in testing, that message was presented to me a few times and at that time I found that the problem was a result of the data structure used which is more complex than those used by MEW_Index and also by ME_Index.
I hope to during the next week-end to solve the problem and release a new version of the program.

Almost forgot to say that here, at home, the program works without sending the message.

                                            Thanks for your patience.
