Identifying change wheels

A friend has asked if I can identify these gears for him. There came with his ML7 but are obviously not for that lathe. He wants to try to sell them, so any help identifying them would be appreciated.

Hopefully I am attaching a photo, but the gears are as follows:

100/127 compound with 5/8" bore

54/18 compound with 5/8" bore

80 with boss and 5/8" bore.

The rest are all 9/16" bore with 1/8" keyway – 32 (2 gears), 36, 40, 46, 48, 52, 54, 56, 60 (4 gears)

What is the overall dia in inches of the 100 tooth gear ?

Mystery solved, I think. Looking at the change wheels Tony sells on lathes.co.uk, they are Boxford.

Size of Boxford change wheels is fine on a SouthBend C but I'm pretty sure the pressure angle is different so you will need to have a whole set. I think my C actually had Boxford gears. About 35 years to late to check tho'.

Regular old Boxford gears have a 9/16 bore. It may be the specials like the 127 are different, or it may be that South Bend are 5/8 bore. Both will be 14.5 pressure angle and 20 DP, The new gear head larger Boxfords are possibly metric module gears wit 20 degree angle.

But there will be other lathes that are similar. We could do with a cross reference table.

mick70. If you want to fit them on your SB "C" you will also need the 16, 18, 20, 22 & 24 tooth Boxford gears as they are usually first in the drive train on the stud gear. Especially if you want to cut metric gears ( along with the 100/127 conversion gear). Smaller sizes can be picked up on Ebay reasonably priced.

The ones with a 5/8″ bore are used on the banjo and are missing their running bushes.
