Help in identification of these machines

Hi there, I wonder if perhaps someone may be able to help me out. Following the death of my mother, I have been responsible for clearing her house. My late father was a keen model engineer and produced these two machines in his workshop.

If anyone can identify them for me I would appreciate it.

If the beam engine has a flywheel of about 14" which going by the skirting board in the background it probable does then the model is the Stuart Major Beam Engine, looks to have had an additional geared shaft and pully added on.

The other is a "R.L.E." hit and miss internal combustion engine the casting kit of which was marketed by Alyn Foundry. They are now out of business but the propriator Graham Corry is still contactable.

I remember seeing the hit and miss running before. I may try and get that one running. As for the beam engine, n o idea what to do with it!

Put it in the 'for sale' section, then take the family out on the proceeds in memory of your mum & dad & raise a glass to both.

No,give it to me for Xmas . How could you possibly part with either ?

My friend has just retired and he had his Dads petrol model aero engines from the 50's and 60's and he showed me them a few years ago. All boxed and mint…lovely sigh ..And then he rings me the other day ,do i know where he could sell those old petrol engines ??? I say yes ,I remember them …there was a Frog diesel ? "That's right ,but I threw that one away ,it wont be worth anything…" You haven't ? "Yes why ? I was having a clear out…" What ?

Next time i saw him .. Oh i 've found that old Frog , you can have it if you want it .It was in the pile of scrap and the scrappy didn't take it yet .

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm not that sure how I could part with them myself. I've less interest in the beam engine I suppose, but even then I wouldn't know what a reasonable price was.

I also have 2 lovely radial engines. Which look great.
