Hi – I wonder if anyone can suggest a way of solving the problem I have with a small lock fitted to a china display cabinet. The key shown is obviously is not the correct one for the cabinet but somehow or other it was used to operate the lock in one direction, (fortunately with the door open) but I cannot now get it to work in the reverse direction. All suggestion most welcomed.

Remove the lock from the cabinet, take off the back from it and then you will be able to see which wards on the key are doing something useful.

It is a simple key to make a new version. A blank to that pattern would be readily available at the local locksmith and you can file your own wards on that to operate the lock correctly

          Regards Brian

The key does not fit this lock and unless it is needed for some other lock you could hacksaw it into 2 parts which will enable you to remove the lock from the cabinet door. Then either follow Brian's suggestion or take the lock to a locksmith and order a new key.

Apologies, I thought the key was stuck in the lock!
