No, not a wash your mouth out moment.

In order to apply for some cash from a local company our club has to have an equal opportunities policy. Does any club out there have such a thing that we could copy?

I don’t know if we have an actual policy, but our website says ‘anyone can join regardless of background’

Or just site ‘Cherry Hill MBE’ 🙂

May be worth clarifying first with the prospective sponsor if it really needs a “Policy” (implying a department’s worth of procedures not really needed or practicable), or a simple Rule?

          The latter something like:

“Membership is open to all with an interest in [model-engineering and related interests]; irrespective of ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, disability or religion”.

A good many clubs have such a rule, useful as a template even if the hobby itself is different, hence my brackets.

Though the prospective sponsor might ask how your facilities cope with a disabled person – at simplest, door ramps rather than steps, and unisex lavatory or lavatories suitable for a person using crutches or a wheel-chair.

It is only like many businesses these days. To get council contracts you need an equal opportunities policy, an anti slavery policy and several other items of rubbish. You will probably find a pro-forma one with a Google search?

Tell them that you welcome terrorists and fraudsters along with everything in between. Then you’ll see what they mean by “equal opportunities”. 😉

                MODERATOR WARNING!

Avoid politics!  Many other websites available for that.

                🙁

Yes, I know it’s pointless bureaucracy, but if it gets us £750 grant it’s worth it
