cricket club mower

As a long standing member of my local cricket club I am occasionally asked to do small machinery repairs. The worn gear on this pulley needs replacing.

Two questions if I may

Can anyone tell me what plastic material this gear is made from. Not any easy question I know, just from a picture, but any ideas would be appreciated.

Secondly hpc sell gears the same size 2.5 mod 20t in delron and tufnol. I know little about these two materials. Which material is likely to be the best replacement. Which ever one we buy will have to be modified to fit the pulley but that's not a problem

Delrin is used for bearings so is 'slippery' which makes it more difficult to machine and glue / loctite to the shaft. Looks like part of a self propel mechanism, tell 'em to push it for exercise. Good to see I'm not the only cricket club machine repairer.

If you need that gear, I would say buy the one off ebay for £3.47

I repaired a mower last year where those gears had stripped. Perfect and even has a new PB bush installed

I think ASF has nailed it. Once again, Chinese made part is cheaper than buying material locally to make one!

I repair lots of ground keeping equipment made by the likes of Dennis/Sisis etc. But at the cost off ebay I would not consider making a gear. If you do go ahead use delrin.

That picture looks exactly like the cutting cylinder drive assembly on me ATCO Suffolk Punch mower and many local garden machinery suppliers will be able to supply or know of a source of parts.

Ps. the interwebnet is full of parts too
