      .

Firstly I don't have a requirement for this, I am just curious.

Recently watched a clip on TV where they were fitting new valve seats into a car cylinder head. Head was machined out and a new valve seat blank was then fixed in using what they said was a ceramic adhesive. Once cured the new valve seat blank was then machined to size and shape.

Presumably this ceramic adhesive is able to withstand quite high temps once cured.

I am curious about this and all I can find on search engines is glues to fix broken ceramics.

This US company does a lot of high temperature adhesives & coatings – maybe one of their products ? We get e-mails from them at work, but have not used them.

Nigel B, Just had a look at the website you linked to certainly Top notch, hi tec stuff and would no doubt have price tags to match. If that is what a firm needs to do the job then it's "pay up". Certainly rated at very high temps. I would not be surprised if the Space Shuttle used stuff like that.

Bricks are a ceramic and the adhesive used for them is mortar.winkHolts sell exhaust repair gun gum. This paste dries to what could be called a hard ceramic but it sticks well to the rusty finish on mild steel exhaust pipes and manifolds. I think it is mainly for filling potential leak paths rather than for use as a structural adhesive.
