Thanks for the link, but I already have a list of camlock sizes! I’m confused as all the camlocks ive seen before are either 3 or 6 pin? The one in the picture has 4 pins ?

Do the dimensions tie up with just having 2 missing, adequate for a smaller chuck, assuming you have confirmed it fits your lathe? The lathes site mentions D1-6" for the older L 15inch series as a special instead of the L fitting, and No8-D1 for the later models such as M450.

Although only 4 pins are fitted they will be at the regular PCD and spacing for whatever size of camlock it is and will go straight on to a normal spindle nose. I'd expect D1-6.

It's not uncommon for nominal 6 pin camlock backplates to have less than the official complement of pins. I have two or three D1-5 units with only 3 pins instead of the official 6. The nose protector for my D1-4 spindle Southbend Heavy 10 only had one but that was only used to keep the crap out of the camlock fittings when using the collet adapter and so carried no load.

                4 looks seriously odd tho'.

It does look suspiciously like a 6-pin format, with two missing.

Looks deliberately designed to be annoying!
