I bought a magnetic base lamp from Poolewood for £38.38, then noticed they could match anybody’s cheaper price, so I pointed out Amazon was £37 and yardles was £31.98, they refunded me £3.20 to match Amazon but when I pointed out Yardles to them again. This was there reply.

I am sorry we will cannot match yandles. They have a reputation of selling at cost or less to to make a sale. Their behavior is such that several suppliers are in negotiation to either sever ties or get them to price properly. We all have to make a living.

I am afraid the price we are at is the final price.

I won’t be using them again main reason you can’t phone them they don’t answer.

I think they have behaved quite well in honouring the Amazon price if as you imply it was post hoc. The fact that someone advertises a product at a price which seems too good to be true usually means it is. So either don't hold stock, has to be ordered from another country , is out of date or a knock off copy.

You have a real world price match and a courteous email to your enquiry. If you would allow them the extra few bob profit they might be able to employ someone to answer the phones.

I might add by asking if the product you bought, now subsidised to the tune of £3.20, is satisfactory . I have to agree with Paul

Lucky to get £3.20, as my maths makes the difference £1.38 devil

Most places won't match amazon due to their selling practices. I agree with paying a fair price for things but most people still have a mortgage to pay; if we push too hard on the smaller companies to match the bigger ones buying with the economies of scale they will be killed off and remove all choice from the market place.

I think they were quite good in matching you once, let alone entertaining a second attempt.

It's a bit unfair to expect anyone to match a huge corporation like Amazon. I wish Amazon would disappear altogether.

then noticed they could match anybody’s cheaper price,

Should have done some homework before purchasing. If I make a mistake and pay too much, that is history. My own fault and I learn for the next time, but I don’t go grousing about someone else when it is my mistake.

Learn from it and move on.

Recently had to search for a new hard drive for a freesat recorder. Search box immediately aimed me to Amazon. A few clicks later, the exact same item on 'the flee' £1 cheaper and free postage from a company in Wales and was duely ordered from them. Couple of days later I managed to catch the package before it hit the floor (not good for H/Ds) and was surprised to see, not only was it in Amazon package but compliments slip also Amazon but with suppliers name and address on the slip. Still £1 cheaper and no automatic 'Enrolment' to 'Prime'

                          Regards Ian.
