p1070071-001.jpgp1070072.jpgp1070072.jpgI have just bought a Tender of the dreaded EBay when i got it found the Bogies are 5" as it was advertised but the rest is 7 1/4 is this often done it was only advertised as a 5". It was cheap and the rest is very well built so could make new Body in time i can see the benefits of having larger Tank for water and Coal just wondered if this is a common thing as not seen before

          hi ron,

are you sure it is a 7.25"g body? it doesnt look too big to me but just a perhaps freelance 'big' 5"g tender. if the price is right im sure it will 'do' and better than having no tender at all and delaying completion. you can always have a go at a finescale accurate 5"g LMS tender after completing the loco, and in the meantime you have a ready to run tender.

          cheers,

          julian

How did you manage to photograph it in the front room without getting caught? 😱

You may be right Julian it's 1 1/2 inches wider than the plans i have so took it to be a 7 1/4.

The Bottom has been well built wheels brakes axle boxes ect.

As for price i had put £500 bid but it went for just £200 i was shocked as cost of frames wheels ect worth far more.

I should have the Tender to go with the Loco at some point its sitting in a Garage but due to problem of my late Uncles will have to wait till probate finished.

I hope to get my boiler in next three to four weeks and wanted a tender so i can run it this will do nicely.

              Ron

You would never believe it but my wife loves it in the living room she says she is proud of the work we have done on it but she is one in a million.

If that is the Fowler 3500gal tender the dimensions Martin Evans gave for it for the Royal Scot was 22 7/16" x 9 1/2" wide over the running boards with the body dimensions being 21 5/8" x 9".

Something wrong with your drawings then Ron. If you took 1.5" off the width, the tank would be as wide as the track!!

Are you sure Ron? It looks in proportion in the photos. What is the buffer spacing?
