Are there any scrape marks under the tensioner where it was moved around? Maybe a clue there somewhere. Or scrape marks on the back of the tensioner itself.

        On JasonB Said:

Peak, in your first photo you are comparing the end of the long hex nut that takes the cover screw with a short standard nut on the lower tie rod. If you take the same point top and bottom there is not such a difference.

The spacer plate also projects further back than the bed so your vertical red line is also not right.

        long nut

        Hi Jason,

If you look at the retaining nut for the Lower motor bar. There is quite a bit of the stud thread showing above the nut.

Although the photo is not great. The Upper motor bar retaining nut can just be made out behind the plastic change gear. I cannot see any thread projecting from this nut. Which would point to the upper motor mount being further away from the Bed.

        Regards

        Gray,

But Sonic has already tried it with the top bar nuts loosened right off so the motor pivots away. Belt still slack.

            Sorry Jason,

            I had missed that post.

The only other thing I could think of was if the mounting bars were not symmetrical about the motor centre-line. I understand this too was checked.

Even though the view above might well be due to the camera angle, and the off-set I can see is going to be in favour of a tighter belt. This is indeed proving to be a real conundrum.

            Regards

            Gray,
