Is it just me whom this strikes a chord with ?

Yep, but designed by Dogbert not Dilbert, who's far too smart to actually finish anything, or stay with a project to the end.

          Cynical wot me?

They forgot the bit about making the instruction manual unintelligible!

And if you try to download a copy from t'internet, it will be printed in lilac text on a grey background.

I kid you not! Speaking from bitter experience

…….printed in lilac text on a grey background.

Sounds like the early days of microprocessors when purchased source-code (assembler or machine language) was printed like that to avoid photocopying and passing along.

This is really all about that micro USB connector thing, isn't it? angrywink

                    I always liked this one:-

                    Dilbert's Theorem

Dilbert's "Salary Theorem" states that "Engineers and scientists can never earn as much as business executives and sales people."

This theorem can now be supported by mathematical proof based on the following two postulates:

                     Postulate 1: Knowledge is Power.

                    Postulate 2: Time is Money.

As every scientist knows: Power = Work / Time.

Since Knowledge = Power, then Knowledge = Work / Time.

Since Time = Money, then Knowledge = Work / Money.

Solving for Money, we get Money = Work / Knowledge.

Thus, as Knowledge approaches zero, Money approaches infinity, regardless of the amount of work done.

Conclusion: The less you know, the more you make.

                    QED!

Actually, I read it as being mostly about the standard USB connector at the other end of the wire … the one that looks the same on both sides and doesn't go in on the first try; doesn't go in when reversed; then finally goes in when you reverse it again.

My favourite Dilbert was this one from about 20 years ago:

…and the bunch of bent arrows on the top. Took me a long while to notice those.

Mick, now that I re-read it (several times) I think you're probably right and it is referring to the micro-usb.
