The Beauty of this engine cannot match the engineering quality! of this beauty seen at Invercargill by the current owners of Bert Monroe's Indian world record motor cycle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNJfSXOYXkc .

New Zealand No 8 wire technology at its best.

              Neil,

Here is another link for that engine Norman Hayes Engine It explains what it is made from. I think any engine I make looks more like Norman's than like the museum quality model in my link

I knew the bloke who mainly built the Hayes motor, Jim Stuart lived just behind my place in Riverton, and worked at Haye;s workshop in Invercargill. I think that when I first saw it the beam was made of wood, as well as it having a wooden piston, but each time I saw it changes had been made, I suppose that now it's sort of in it's final state.

                  Hi Ian,

New Zealand has another engine that interests me, Richard Pearse built it in 1902 for his flying machine.
