Trying to understand how the smokebox of 5”G Metro is formed, as I see it there is the outside wrapper fixed to a front plate, a rear ring slotted to take the boiler barrel, and a floor that fixes to the wrapper and front plate I then assume you make corner fillets to connect to the floor and rear ring?

The other question, there are holes in the floor to let the inlet and exhaust pipes through how do you seal them to create the vacuum?

Any advice would gratefully received.
