Hi, does anyone have a Sealey power hacksaw?

Mine is a Sealey SM17/1 Power Hacksaw (with coolant pump).

I bought it used/abused a couple of years ago, and it works fine for solid bar, but it’s struggling with Angle iron. So. I’m finally getting round to looking at the broken and missing bits.

There’s a couple of things annoying me, and info is lacking in the manual and google.

      • Routing for coolant (from Pump, Via?, to ?)
      • The screw for auto power off (on locking lever [aka notched stay?]) is bothering me. It catches the hydraulic pump and can’t be right/good.
      • Thin shim like steel covers on Saw Arm (under the Bow Saw) has worn loose and needs removing/fixing. i think it’s the shaded areas in Fig 9 below.

If anyone has one, please post or drop me a PM

      cheers

At the risk of teaching Granny to suck eggs, I always cut angle iron by setting with the angle uppermost, and the “legs” gripped by the vice.

On which stroke is it meant to cut? Forward or backward? (i e, Will it cut the angle iron better with the blade the other way round?

Is it sensitive to blade tension?
