Having the milled parts pre-finished sounds a great help for the lightly equipped, less than confident builder.

Accurate milling has always been an issue for Model Engineers who haven’t the funds or space for a dedicated machine. Witness the many historical add on milling devices from the days when a separate machine was largely beyond affordability. All of which can generally be gotten to work but at the cost of much more demanding skill levels than simple turning.

Personally I’m not in love with the style. Very much “look what I made, isn’t it pretty” rather than the Stuart approach which is much closer to a baby replica of what could have been a full size engine.

But, as ever, the point is in the making and the pleasure of exercising skills to produce a nice job. No showing off afterwards. Although pretty enough to display is nice.

They coul be supplying DZR brass and lets face it stuart have been supplying hot brass stamping for their valves for the last 100yrs not to mention Mamod boilers. I would not worry about it unduly. It is mostly the impurities in teh boiling water that cause the problems not the steam.

Also if it was not clear in my first post you do still have to do some milling. “they have done the majority of the milling for you”
