Yesterday we at SMEE were shocked to receive the sad news that Martin Kyte has died, suddenly and unexpectedly. Martin was a regular contributor to this forum and wrote articles for Model Engineer about SMEE activities.  As a member of SMEE Council he brought considerable thought to our existing ideas and to plans for development of the society.

Most recently, Martin was a major part of the SMEE stand at the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition giving up time for setting up, manning the stand for all four days and subsequent packing up.  His Myford cross-slide improvements and his skeleton clock were important contributions to our display.

      He will be greatly missed.

        Indeed he will.

A respected voice of wisdom here.

I am deeply saddened at this news. We were only exchanging emails a few days ago. I shall miss his help and advice greatly.

No!  Martin was posting only last week.

I have great respect for Martin, knowing him on the forum and through SMEE Zoom meetings.  Smart cookie, and helpful.  He was able to explain what I was doing better than me!

Sad news indeed, and most unexpected.

            Dave

Hi, I’ve not knowingly met  Martin, but it’s always sad to hear of people who have died, especially when you know them via this forum, and the magazine.

              Regards Nick.

I am so saddened to hear this – I only recently met Martin at the Midlands Show. My condolences to his family.

Very sad me and my son had a long conversation with him at the midland show, a really nice man.

Very sad to see this, chatted to him at a few shows and found him an extremely knowledgeable and friendly man who freely gave his time to demonstrate and encourage. Always a voice of reason and wisdom on the forum.
