Did anyone else find this site very, very slow late last night? (Monday)

Another forum site I used, worked fine, so did some retailers’ web-sites I examined.

This site though was really struggling.

The Log-in process was flakey, and when switching from one forum to another the site took a long time to rebuild the page. It seems to work by switching off everything to leave a blank window, then adding the various panels like the ads for the magazines, before opening the forum you have requested. Normally this is too rapid to see.

That was late at night when Internet traffic is less, but this morning it is all working as it should, with a changeover time between threads only just discernible.

Given that everything else ran as it should, I doubt this is relevant but all my Internet use is via a DELL PC running on WIN-11, and via BTinternet.

      …..

Out of curiosity, what does this  ‘[wpcode id="269"]‘ mean, on the toolbar between ‘Profile’ and ‘Help’? I don’t recall seeing that until a few days ago, if that.

Its location suggests it is a switch but as anything could happen if I clicked on it, I am reluctant to risk it, whether anything useful, utter disaster or merely a “Badedas Bath” !

There are a few [mis-placed] comments in the “What did you do … “ topic.

Yes Nigel, it seemed to be having problems ‘serving’ – screen updates were both very slow and (perhaps as a result) in some cases corrupted.

          Seems fine this morning though.

          Regards,

Hi, that wpcode might be for a WordPress plugin, maybe an Admin has forgotten to log out after a bit of maintenance.

            Regards Nick.

Not noticed anything particularly slow on this site alone, but general internet access was not as brisk as usual for the last couple of nights for me.

I’ve let the guys know about the green bar and also that things were slow last night.

Lots of sites can have a bad day…, can be the server but also the infrastructure or network backbone the server is on. I have noticed Groups.io being slow last week and the week before on the Thursdays I was using it.

I had the ” wpcode” message in where the messages should be this morning. Thought it odd. Noel.

Exceedingly slow last night, gave up trying to log on.

I had troubles with the site yesterday, 6th Oct and they haven’t entirely gone away yet. Logging on took several goes when unwanted pages turned up today, but after persisting I managed to log on.

But there has been a positive change, at least on my iPad.  The list of latest replies now seems to update automatically, rather than requiring a refresh each time I go into the page.

Thankyou – I am rather relieved that the IT was flakey for me… it’s usually the other way round!

I couldn’t get fully onto the site no matter which route I tried.
