Hi, its very much a feel thing,tungsten connected to negative pole,and hum the blue danube waltz to get in a rhythm to move the torch in a circular motion. dip the filler rod as you move the torch forward and then as the torch is moving back it will fuse the new metal into the joint. keep the current low on thin material, and just slow down.speed will come with experience.its like sewing its keeping consistant thats the trick

search Welding tips and tricks on U tube, the guy's called Jody and his vids are welding superb……. its also very funny when he picks up a job he just welded or is that just me……. lol

funnily enough I learnt those skill's between my gran and from being in the scout's, does anybody remember them…..Bob a Job….

as for useless, I still replace broken buttons and repair the odd headlining etc in my old car's….

in fact I still use what I learnt from the scouts most every ….no skill's how ever learnt are a waste…….

I've tried to teach the younger member's of society anything learnt may just come in handy……

Hi, with regards to my earlier comment about sending it back just look at the boiler on the traction engine post THATS PROPER WELDING. One of the major problems you will encounter is distortion.This will need to be controlled by heat sinks, copper backing bars work well. It is also worth remembering that the best welds come from the best joints, ie its no good having a badly fitted joint and expecting the weld to solve all the problems if its cr$p before you weld it it will be worse after
