Hi I have just noticed your post
I am a member of (GEC) coventry mes and we are a member of the midland fed and southern fed (I think) and our boiler inspector issued us with the new regulations i think they cost about 30p ! so if you get in touch with your local fed they may be able to help
I am no expert on boilers and the regs!
just completing a 3.5″ tich boiler!
          hope this helps

            Hello David,

If you type in THE EXAMINATION & TESTING OF MINIATURE STEAM BOILERS in your search engine (Google?) you will obtain a copy of the lates edition of the British code.

              Hello,
Send a e-mail to Tony Wood at Walker Midgley–he will send you the regs
[email protected]   He insures a lot of T/Engines and most other items in model engineering

                Hello.

I got a useful little booklet at the last ME Exh, it is published by the Federations.
Lots of useful info in the publications section of their web sites.

I see from the Walker Midgely site that boilers of less than 3 bar-litres capacity don't need a test certificate **LINK**. I estimate the capacity of the large Tich boiler as about 450cc, and the pressure is no more than 90psi (max, so that's roughy 0.450 x 4 = 1.8 bar litres.

Froma purely legal insurance perspective, not individual club requirements, is it therefore correct that a Tich boiler would not need a test certificate?

Errrrr, where did the '4' come from; I make 90psi more like 6.2 bar?

Interesting. Still comes to less than 3 bar litres, if the volume is worked out right.. Is 90 bar a bit highor Tich?

Are there 2 or 3 boiler designs for Tich? I thought there was a 3" large boiler and a smaller 2 5/8" boiler with a belpaire boiler. But it appears the belpaire may be the nbest of them all. is there a 'standard' small boiler?

I'm going to post some Tich observations in another thread.

                      Neil
