Hi all,

Just a quick hello.

Some online researching after a recent lathe purchase led me here. The lathe in question is a Swisten DLRN from somewhere around the 20’s- 30’s. Not a common lathe from what I understand but it’s in good order mechanically and in a few months I’ll hopefully get it looking well too!

My background is in mechanical engineering and I enjoy messing around with anything old and mechanical. I love the satisfaction of bringing old, well engineered tools back to working condition and whether that’s a hammer or a lathe, the same buzz is there. I’m sure I’m not unique in that!

Welcome along Brian, I am no model maker. Tinkering with pre war motorcycles is my interest. I get over to the North 2 or 3 times a year for the road racing. Where in Ireland are you ?

Thanks Brian. I’ve been on that site quite a bit prior to and since buying the lathe. It’s a fabulous resource with a mind boggling amount of information.

Hi Chris,

I’m down the other end – Cork. I don’t know much about road racing but there must be something in the air up in the North – They all seem to be obsessed up there!
