Gmail virus?

I use Gmail as my main mail system. Yesterday a bright red box appeared at the top page saying the following in bold white letters:

"Gmail is having authentiaction problems. Some features may not work. Try logging in to fix the problem"

I assume that this is something very nasty that has attached itself to Gmail.

For me Gmail is working satisfactorally and I cannot see any thing wrong with the settings.

Might be a corrupted cookie or you may have been logged out.

f you read your gmail online I would log right out google, close and re-open your browser and go to http://www.google.co.uk and log in again.

This will make sure you are logged in properly.

I certainly had not been logged out. I did log out and then logged back in. What ever it was has gone.

You need a copy of the cartoon that used to circulate at work.

Showed a man in front of a computer, with the cation "Hit any key when ready" He had a sledge hammer behind his back!
