Hi I have just bought a Myford ML7 and I want to know the maximum safe speed I can run it on white metal bearings. Thanks in advance

The "factory standard" top speed is 870 rpm, using the larger of the 2 motor pulleys available with the machine, and a single phase motor of 1420/1450 rpm. I forget the pulley size, but something around 2¼". Somebody will tell us.

Higher speeds are used by those who have fitted 3-phase motors with speed control, the important thing is to ensure plenty of lubrication through the oilers at high speeds.
