Dear fellow scrou……. recyclers. What can be cannibalised to get a pair of right angle bevel gears for a steam engine ball governor? Need to be about 8 to 12 mm. major diameter. Your experienced advice appreciated.

Is it really worth searching around for then when you can get a new brass pair for a fiver, maybe less with a bit of searching on e-bay.

Also as they are really under no load you could cut your own with a home ground tool, just freehand ground by eye.

Radio-controlled car suppliers/hobby shops usually have a range of stock gears to suit the wide variety of R/C cars on the market. Worth a try, usually nylon/brass/steel/diecast alloy available.
