      Has anyone else replaced the difficult to get to saddle oil nipples with 4mm hose and a gravity oil feed pot? I replaced the oil nipple that is under the compound slide and the one at the back of the cross slide on the saddle with ones that take the 2.5mm id 4mm od tube, and ran a 2 BA die nut down the M5 threaded connectors. I just got tired of oiling the points quite often, especially when trying to make the piston trim . When not in use I just drop the pot to the height of the cross slide. When needed, I lift it about 300mm above the cross slide. It keeps the area on the bed wet all the time.

      Next I am wondering what oiling if any, and how do people oil the cross slide and the compound slides?

          Hi Neil

          I repositioned the rear oil nipple on the Myford when i converted
          it to part cnc use as can be seen in the photo,the additional rear
          bracket made it impossible to get access to the nipple.While the
          saddle was off a small connecting holes were drilled through
          from the diagonal slots on the underside of the saddle to link up
          to the flat slide area of the crosslide ,small slots are machined in the
          crosslide surface to allow the oil to spread a little .
          When the machine is oiled some finds its way to the crosslide.
          Perhaps a photo of what you have done,i have some similar oil
          supply systems on other machines and they work very well.

            So I found that the initial way I was oiling the saddle, due to the uneven length of the tubing and the slight height difference, ment that the rear slide got most of the oil and the front getting very little oil. Now I have both at the same length of tube, and have the oil pot in 2 places. One just above the level of the bed when not in use, and the other raised above under my tool shelf to give a gravity feed. I can also put the oil gun inside the oil spout lid to give a force flow of oil to clear away any chips etc.
