Just wondering if anyone has any (perhaps longterm) experience of this primer, which they sell as a rust treatment?

I have certainly bought some to try, and it is really quite 'interesting'. What I am unsure of is its longterm adhesion for subsequent priming/coating, and if it can handle all topcoats. I am trying it as part of a 'system' with Paragon's zinc phosphate primer and enamel on top.

A bit of scratching around suggests it is made by a company called HMG and has been used to tackle bigger jobs than anything I will throw it at….

Hi, sorry to restart an old thread, but does anyone have any comments on either the primer or enamel. I bought some ‘machinery’ enamel from a local supply, but it seems to chip very easily despite careful prep. Is paragon hard-wearing?? Cheers

I have not tried the Parragon paint but have good results from "Tractol" available from agricultural merchants. Seems to work well on farm equipment and machinery. Oh, welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the tip Chris, I’ll look into that. Has anyone else got good/bad experience of enamel brands?

              Thanks again

I have used their coach enamel paint for a myford, a harrison L5 and some lawnmowers. I like the paint alot, it goes on well and most brush marks disappear before its dry, and any left are easily delt with with some wet/dry followed by g3 compound. it does also spray fairly well, if you want to she’ll out for their thinners…. can’t say its the most hard waring to be honest, it resists oil/petrol well but it can chip/scratch fairly easily….on the whole, i like the product.

I just found the receipt for my paint and it turns out it’s by Hmg also! My experience is consistent with Benjamin’s I think, looks nice but more fragile than I’d like. Maybe I’ll try the tractor next time. Thanks for the help all.
