I thought I had every allen-key known to man under 1/2" but I am currently defeated by one for tightening a set of 6BA grub-screws.
Can anyone help with the size? I am assuming they would be an imperial size but my sets don't seem to include the correct one.

I think 1.25mm is the smallest common metric Allen key, and would probably substitute for 0.05". 1.25mm = 0.0492", so less than 1 thou undersize.
Andy.

If you have trouble finding one, you can get them (at a price!) from Slater's Plastikard; they are the standard size for fixing Slater's wheels on to O gauge locos.

I'm sure you could find them cheaper somewhere else though.

Model Fixings (http://www.modelfixings.co.uk) stock 0.05" hex keys.

Can't see why you would want to buy a metric substitute taht won't fit so well when 50thou keys are readily available
Try EKP, MSC, GS Supplies, Reeves, Bruce, Model Fixings etc
J&L/MSC are probably the cheapest with decent Eklind ones costing 9p
Grind a larger one down to size

There's nothing to say that the 6BA grub screws have a standard size hex hole, depending upon their provenance.

Andrew
Well I suppose we have to assume they are made to BS 2470 just as we would have to assume all other fixings are to the relevant british standard.
