The Etalon comparator mikes are great instruments. We had a number of them in the toolroom at my first job in industry 36 odd years ago. The benefit is not just that they are great for repeat inspection, but like a bench mike the fiducial indicator system controls the measuring pressure and this greatly improves accuracy. Treasure that one! You are lucky to have it.

I have a couple of unusual micrometers, the adjustable one is by Starrett and has no model number and the smaller black one is a Cicerimet. They are not used but function perfectly though I haven’t checked them for accuracy.

                      EdH:

This looks like your adjustable mic – cost a small fortune when new; illustration is from a 1900 Buck & Hickman catalogue:

Here's one I got unexpectedly on Ebay for an absolute song quite a few years back, being 1-2" its use is limited but fairly recently I made a GO plug gauge for Myford spindle thread using 3 wire method — long story as to why I needed this even of accuracy but its a useful tool to have. We used them regularly when I worked in industry.

Looks similar but different make and needs some work.
