Hello!

This is my first post here! I am a hobby machinist. …..when my wife and son let me have some time to myself. I recently acquired a full set of castings and plans for Martin Evans Greene King 4-6-0 live steam locomotive and tender. I’m fairly new to model engineering and the whole live steam culture. Is there anybody out there who has experience with building castings that are manufactured by reeves? Any tips or pointers?

At this scale you can make everything from raw materials. I have built in 31/2, 5 and 71/4 and have never bought a single casting. You may choose to buy wheels as they can be difficult.

Hi Max;

Where (approximately) are you? Have you been to your local live steam club(s)?

My Tich castings came from Reeves, they were fine, but a couple of decades ago now.

(I think 3-1/2" gauge is the best gauge for me to build in, but nice locomotives are made in all gauges)
