How many of you are ok with your workshop in this spell of weather we are having..?

I,m not, I realise my shop is a small wooden shed but come 11.00 – 11.30am I am driven out of it at the moment as the temp is in the eighties. At 3.00pm this afternoon it was 98F in there and that was with the door and window fully open.

Oh for an air conditioned shop, that would be pure heaven..lol

Mine is a constant 68F. I installed a air to air heat pump.

I totally agree, my asbestos roofed garage is that hot my wife cooked our tea in there tonight.

If you live in the UK it's not like it happens that often. Sit in a deck chair under a sunshade with a drink and a few copies of ME to read or listen to whatever cricket is on the radio. Plenty of cold days to come in August.

Garage/Workshop is ground floor of 3 story Town House. A comfortable ambient temp through Summer. Freezing in Winter.

Happy to endure these Temps and long days, as winter is cold and dark enough for far too long for me. Others maybe not so. Stay cool if you can.

WOW almost 100F 40C in the UK you guys must feel like a Pork Roast on Sunday.

At the moment its winter in QLD cold 1C to 14C most mornings by 10am its a mild 23C most days. Summer well ok at similar to the temps your having atm I open all 3 garage doors till such time no breeze is is flowing through then I go sit in the shade on patio.

Drink plenty water unless finished for the day then an ale or 3.

No problem in mine since insulating it.

Carport's been 27-30° BUT Workshop a more comfortable 4-6° less.

Geoff – The time and expense insulating well worth it.

My workshop is in the 90s most of the year, even with insulation, roller doors and ample open windows. Work in the mornings and evenings. Get a cheap16" pedestal fan or two and aim one where you are working and the other drawing air in from the open door. Drink plenty of water. Wear shorts and short sleeved button up work shirt. Take breaks and sit in front of the fan. Cold shower when you finish. Give up on the idea of 12-hour shifts in the shed.

Or in the UK, wait until this time next week and carry on with your jumper on. smiley

Northern Australia. Right in the tropics.  Eight feet of rain a year as well as being a bit warmish. — Stick with the Crete plan.

In UK do you know this site "will it rain today"
8:30 I saw the clouds heading my way and thought of the things I hadn't got done in the dry. Went off to the side of the woodshed where I had been throwing dead sticks and was just about to put them under cover as the first drops fell8. Fortunately the tree cover gave me just enough time but now the way into the shed is blocked. I had put off stacking the pile of logs inside on the floor until a wet day.
Now sitting on the porch listening out for the church bells through the pitter-patter and breathing in that first rain on dry soil smell.

Rain? Today? In the UK? In Hertfordshire? Quite surprising, but it can happen.

None here in Lincolnshire and looks like being yet another fine day.

Weather.com gives 0% chance of rain until 02:00 tomorrow, for our patch, when the forecast gives just a 5% probability.

Gridwatch is showing 3 1/2 GW for solar, currently – a little less than this time yesterday. So any rain will, I suspect be transient and light.

No heavy rain, yet, to help fighting against moorland fires.

Spent most of my time doing outside, garden tasks but generally too hot for anything on workshop projects except general tidying etc ,built an extra bench in one of the workshops an resiting some machines, jobs left to do over summer include repainting outsde bench and the exterior of woodworking shop and sorting a leak in the garage, mornings and evenings suit me at the mo serious workshop stuff when the weather breaks

My workshop is the coolest place in the house. Its a converted garage, with full wall insulation and an insulated sectional garage door in white. I retire there when it gets too hot!

Oh and I hardly need any heating in the winter. Well worth the money spent!

Well Devon is more tolerable today, cloudy with the odd shower and the workshop is 70F so more workable.

Thunder storms are forecast but dont know if we will see any. Looked at the long range forecast for North Devon and it gives fine and dry with highs of up to 25C for the next two weeks. Cant complain its ages since we have had a spell of weather like this.

Wait a minute, its hammering down at the moment.

One winter idea was a fan heater via a scrypt mining unit for litecoins (like bitcoins)

They crank out a lot of heat and eventually you become a millionaire (yeah right) while it keeps the garage warm

I'm a bit surprised no-one ever marketed the idea to big shops like Marks and Spencers who must spend vast amounts on heating in winter

There was a time, many, many years ago when I could withstand hot weather, but not now. As a result I have been taking steps to avoid the excessive heat as much as possible. My workshop is my garage (as far as the planners are concerned) with a flat roof. I have a roll-up door at the front and an ordinary door at the rear and even with the doors open, it has been impossible to work therein during the afternoon.

It comes as something of a shock to find that I cannot work therein during the winter because it's too cold, and I cannot work therein during the summer because it is too hot! One cannot win.
