Have seen this lathe lurking in a NT kitchen. Not much of it but it is clean and sound. Do not know if drawers are stocked or not.

Looks like it is made by Hayward to me. A similar one was recently bought by a friend of mine from Tony on the lathes.co.uk site, though it had a different saddle and cross slide assembly to the one you show above.

The link that I posted yesterday seems rather unstable, so here is one direct to the Auctioneer's site.

… Which property is 'yours' in, Bob ?

                    .

This is quite a big document, but should make interesting reading, this afternoon, with a glass of Port.

Thanks for the leads, Steve and Michael, i will follow this up in the New Year and see if they have any history of it but it's got to be wrong sitting in a Victorian kitchen setting!
                      Will report back later

                          Michael,
                          Home is Attingham Park. Shropshire
Having drunk the port and read the book I contacted John Edwards, who was unaware of this example and is going to follow it up and try and establish serial numbers etc to add to his register.
The NT do have it listed as a Holtzapffel and have a photo of it in their collection online.
It helped make my membership of NT worthwhile!!!
