Hi

Can anybody please help me in getting on to https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/  I have tried everything I can think off. Been waiting for months and months to get a reply. Any help greatly appreciated.

Whilst I can’t read the posts as a non-member, I could briefly see the headings including a list of posts under Introduce Yourself.
Some of those were dated quite recently.
I then tried to read one, and got an error message saying only members could read posts.
Now I can’t even see the list of threads.
I tried to register, apparently successfully, as I received the confirmation email and clicked on the link.
There was however nowhere to enter the activation ID in the email

Apparently I now need to await admin approval, after which I’ll receive another email

Oddly the forum shows me as logged in.

Second part of the activation email says, if the previous link didn’t work, try this second one.
I tried that and was given the opportunity to enter a code.
Now done,

“Your account has been activated but you are currently in the moderation queue to be added to the forum.”

I still show as logged in.

This all feels very familiar.

No Completely different, the software all works but the site owner has little to do with the forum and does not seem to keep up with approval of new members. Here I tend to do it within 10mins unless it is at night then it will be first thing next morning though nobody else with the ability hardly ever seems to do it.

A new member here can be logged in and read replies, follow, see latest posts etc yet they may not have started a thread or replied so will not be approved until then. This is similar to why it shows you as logged in on TT but it just has different access levels once approved and again if you donate you get to see a bit more.

I waited around 12 months after initial request, to a point where I just gave up and forgot about it.

Then out of the blue got an email with password etc. Use your own imagination what I did next.

Had any luck you must be joking. I will probably be bald grey and using a zimmer frame before i get anywhere. Why have a forum that you cant join, from what I have been hearing their is probably more chance of my grandchildren getting an email when I have gone and 6ft under.

There are still plenty of stalwarts/anti FB folk active on TT. I know I had one heck of a wait to get in but I think I contacted one of the moderators listed and eventually was approved.

I cannot help in the immediate term, but members of Traction Talk are discussing what might be done to cure the absence of moderation.  Unfortunately the site owner is uncontactable.

I will post here once there is something to report.

I have copper tubes in a 4″ scale steel boiler.  They were silver soldered both ends and have done 16 seasons so far with no discernible wear.  The well known boiler tester John Glaze recommended them.

If you just rely on expanding them, they have a tendency to creep or leak with thermal stress.

I have 1″ copper tubes in a 10″ steel boiler on my 6″ Ruston SD and they have swaged/expanded ends.

The boiler was initially pressure tested with water to 250 psi and did not leak. About 6 years old now and have no problems.
