Hi. I am refurbishing a Terrier 150 power hacksaw and the hydraulic lift cylinder is struggling to raise the arm. Does anyone have a saw with a similar hydraulic system as I need to know either how to service the unit or top up the oil.
There is a brass plug on the top face of the cylinder and a square headed plug about half way down which I assume is a level bung.
      Any suggestions gratefully received
      Mick

I slipped the cylinder and now know it’s operation. Just need to know the oil required. I have filled it with a light hydraulic oil but the switch arm falls slowly under its own weight. If no one has any idea I will drain it and try machine oil with a bit more viscosity.

I have an "Excalibur" donkey saw and tend to put SAE 40 in it. It is so old it does need the heavy oil.
