Having bought a mag subscrition on the back of the freebie ( and the fact it was being supplied from arc who I have the greatest respect for as a supplier) I do feel duped, wouldn't you?
Well, I can sympathise with that comment. I can understand why you feel duped, but as explained earlier, there has been no intention to dupe anyone. So now, solutions need to be found for how to deal with this situation.
So, in my opinion, here are some options to consider:
Option 1: As discussed earlier, you can take up the matter with MHS subs department. As you said, your contract is with them. How they decide to deal with the situation is between them an you. I cannot speak on their behalf.
Option 2: Although nothing to do us because your contract is with MHS, but because our name is on the cardboard packing, you can send the products back to us – both chuck and adaptor – for checking. If the products are found to be faulty, we will replace the faulty part/s, provided they are un-used, and
returned to us in their original packing, without any transit damage. If the products are opened for checking, this is understandable. We just ask that they are not used beyond the purpose of checking only. We would not pay for any carriage from you to us, but we will pay for carriage back to you, be it for U.K. or for overseas customers, to replace products found to be faulty.
Option 3: To remove any doubts what so ever 'of feeling duped', if you or any MHS customer feels that they are not happy with these products in any way, just return them to ARC, un-used, in original packing, ensuring no transit damage, and ARC will be happy to put credit on account for that customer, equivalent to the costs of the parts returned, i.e. GBP12.97 for the Micro Drill Adaptor, and GBP12.31 for the key type drill chuck. Again, ARC will not pay for any carriage from you to ARC. This credit on account can only be used against future purchase of goods and related carriage from ARC. It is not refundable in any form of money, because at the end of the day, the customers contract is with MHS, and not with ARC. ARC is only presenting this option to avoid 'any feeling of being duped', and your original contract is with MHS, and not ARC.
For options 2 or 3 to apply, the said goods should be returned to ARC within 30 calendar days of receipt from MHS. Proof of purchase of related magazine subscription will be required.
I personally feel that situations like this should be dealt with without delay. Based on reading of past experience of forum members views on communications with the subscriptions department, I believe that most people would be waiting a while for a response. So, I don't think that I have done myself or ARC any dis-service with my response. But then again, I could be wrong too
. Lifes too short.
