Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong place or been covered before, my father in law is not a big engineer but he loves the Stirling engines even making a coke can one! but for his birthday he has asked for one like this

      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Low-Temperature-Stirling-Engine-Motor-Model-Steam-Heat-Education-Toys-/322207813824?hash=item4b051510c0:gJAAAOSwIgNXmZgc

Are they any good? or can someone put me onto an English version but not to much money, i don't mind paying for quality but we have already got a gift this is a little extra,

      many thanks Matt.

The site I looked at had about 50 motors on it, anything from L8.99 up, I think by the look of them it would be hard to go wrong.

It might be worth looking at the Bohm motors from Germany, but even the cheapest of these are more expensive than the ones on ebay.

Thats ok Matt, can't help much with English motors, I'm about 12,000 miles away, and more into building my own.dsc01237 (1024x768) (640x480).jpg

Mine arrived from China well-packaged and in 12 days.

£26 all in as I recall. Couldn't buy the materials for that.

                  Runs perfectly.

There is a UK company who exhibited at Kew Stirling Engine Rally, the products looked good, no idea how prices compare though.

Kontax Stirling (I think), anyway I have put a link here.

My one cost $NZ 00.00, and a week in the workshop.

Keep at it, absolute minimum friction is essential, you may also need a balance weight on the flywheel(a bit of Blu Tac should do to start with).
