Spirit fired weter tube boilers

Hello

I've just run my loco on meths for the first time. Have used a temporary gas burner until today. The results were disappointing. Anything more than the slightest blower opening killed the pressure. And as for opening the regular! It ran for about 40 seconds before it waved the white flag. I'm a novice when it comes to spirit firing so any hints ,tips or advice would be very welcome.

It's a 2,5 in gauge loco.
