I’ve just bought a green PCF Super 7 and have been renovating it. The machine has been badly neglected but little used. A problem that I didn’t expect concerns the headstock drive belt guard – it won’t stay in the up position. My earlier Super 7 has no trouble staying put, but the green machine seems to lack material where the guard contacts the spring loaded roller. The roller pushrod has little compression when the guard is up.

Is this a common fault with later machines?
