the drawing is poor and incomplete ,no rivets or fixation visible , no interior detail and York is 1000 miles away !

I have them ( and the reeves drawing)…..only one half page of text for the six wheels tender , no dimension for the chassis ,, no rivets , no fixation , no interior , near nothing !

You may be able to use the net for details

I am on the net … the more needed detail is the spacing between the frame….

for the interior , the laser-cut parts give me a good view how it was.

I think this tender was riveted , but Reeves drawings was blank !

                thanks

In the articles Martin says that the POW tender is very similar in construction to the tender for Nigel Gresley so I would say that the distance between the frames should be 6.375"

ah, ah , my first estimation was 160mm, so 162 mm is a good base !

the numerous photos on the net don't give little détails….

I have already buy photos , by NR of Yok , or e-bay, but always taken from the front angle !

the nigel gresley tender was interesting……it was exactly the same , or not ? it's possible to buy a drawing ? , and where ? Reeves ?

I have the drawing set for Nigel Gresley and the wheel centres are not equal 7 7/16" and 6 5/16" I thought there should be 8 wheels not the 6 of Nigel Gresley.

many thanks ! all what I need are on the Gresley drawings….I hope to imprim these …

the 8 wheels tender is normally detailed on the Reeves drawings , not the six wheels !

Some of the singles did run with a smaller 6 wheel tender later in life.

I think Martin refered readers to the Nigel Gresley tender for the general construction of the tender chassis. He only gives very brief details for the POW 6 wheel tender i.e. the frame plates and a general arrangement drawing. No details of buffer beams, frame stretchers etc.

                              Good evening all,

Having had a think about the question, I'm certain around the time the POW was described by Martin Evans I'm certain Dennis Monk wrote a couple of articles on the six wheeled tenders, it may be worth a trawl through the Model Engineers of around that time.

                              Regards,

                              Bob Youldon

                                Think that would be 1972 138 3433 and 1972 138 3434

thanks ! I get a look at e-bay for buying these 5 ME….but with 3 different postage , I can have a tremendous bill above £40 !!!! so , if anyone can send me the pages concerned by this tender , by internet or photocopy , I will be a big gift for me , and I am not ungrateful…

one month ago , I make the trip to Sandown Park , but don't see any POW !

As I am building a similar Midland railway model from Derby works drawings it is possible for me to offer some information. The dimensions in 5 inch scale 1-11.3 in mm are fr the 6 wheel tender between inside frame is 114 mm and between outer frame 156 mm. For the loco it is 161 mm between outer frames. As I understand the POW frame drawings dimensions are wider so adjustments would have to be made. Happy to help you more regards Herb.

                                                    hi jean-louis,

                                                    excellent work on the tender!

on the modeleng.proboards forum we are currently discussing the valve gear for this loco, and there is much behind the scenes exchange of emails in the process. there are a number of errors with the valve gear as designed by martin evans, some obvious, some subtle. if you are interested and would care to PM me i will make sure you have the corrections to the valve gear in due course.

                                                    cheers,

last year I finish some details of my Washington , illustrated on the cover of ME no 4559…now , I come back at my POW and start the painting….I make a TRY with RAL 3003 (rubinrot ) , but the red is too flashy !

when I look all my photos on the subject I see clear red (loco 673) , dark red , even matt maroon , all very different…. I see sometimes "crimson lake " , but have you an RAL equivalent or where I can buy this color, preferably in two component fashion ?

                                                      thanks !
