Hi, my husband has a Myford 254 and needs a help understanding how to go about fixing an electrical problem. From what I'm understanding he's looking for a 'no volt release switch 230v' Can anyone help.

Any decent electrical wholesaler should be able to supply what you're after, such as Denmans, etc.

Here's an example of something on an auction website that might do the job, but not necessarily a recommendation from me. **LINK**

Hi, thanks for these. He has seen tqo of these part and also tried our local electrical shops. We have yet to tey the chester link. Attached is a photo of the switch gear. He would like to by whole part but know one seams to be able to help. I think if he could get it he could then change it out wire for wire.

Cheap and cheerful from HERE

Better ( and of course more expensive!) from HERE

I have the "better" version fitted to my mill so can vouch for that. Also available as 3-phase model if required.

Hi Mags, I think the 254 switch and motor work at a 110 volts although it has a 220volt input, and the gear guard cutout switch works through the switch gear, I am not clued up on electrics but these points may effect the type of switch gear needed. Have a look Here

Margret you need to load your picture onto this site, if you look at the top left in the box "my account" you will see "my photos", click that and create an album and then post a reply and click the little black camera icon at the top of the reply box to include the photo.

I suspect your husband wants to try and match the good quality Myford switch rather than have to alter the housing to take a generic NVR switch, your photo will confirm this.

I would like to say thank you to all of you that have tried to us. After looking at several of the links we came across this one http://www.instructables.com/id/Wiring-up-a-Brooke-Crompton-single-phase-lathe-mot/ which along with the manual we got sorted.
