The world's fastest ever steam locomotive is to return to the district where it broke the record.

Mallard reached a top speed of 126mph (203km/h) after passing through Grantham, Lincolnshire, on 3 July 1938.

The locomotive will be displayed near Grantham station on 7 and 8 September, as part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of the record being set.

What's blue, streamlined and will never do 126 mph again?

Well of topic but just reminded me that the Canadian geese have not landed in our bottom field next to the river fome. They usually come in flying with a dreadfull (lovely) din stay 3 days then of to Slimbridge. wreck the area they land in bless them.
There is so much hype and books written about this (Mallard) loco it is untrue but….. leave it to all to add to the But.

126mph? The WH&S wallies would be jumping out of their orange vests today.

Oh no they wont! there will be 16 of them on the footplate advising the driver and firemen on health and safety matters like,

                      1 Be careful its hot

2 Dont put too much coal on the shovel, it might be too heavy

3 Dont forget your goggles, helmet, gloves, safety boots etc

                      4 Risk assesment

5 And anything else they can think of so that they get a free ride on the footplate.

I thought it was air-conditioned, aren't those huge aircon vents around the cab sides and top?
